Hello my friend,
How are you doing?
I have a little question for you today:
How much do you rely on motivation to get things done?
Let me start by saying this: I LOVE a good motivational boost. A podcast, a quote, a TED talk, a YouTube video with dramatic music and powerful words - I am here for all of it. There's nothing like a strong dose of inspiration to light that fire, right?
If you’re anything like me, you watch an episode of Sort Your Life Out, get fired up about minimalist living, and head straight to your wardrobe to purge everything you haven’t worn since 2018. It’s a rush. It’s exciting. It feels like change is happening.
But then what? The series ends. The quote fades. The podcast energy wears off. And often, we find ourselves slipping back into old patterns - waiting for motivation to strike again before we take the next step.
Motivation is amazing, but it’s also unreliable. It’s fleeting, emotional, and usually tied to things outside of us. If we depend on it, we risk staying stuck in that familiar cycle: bursts of action followed by long pauses, frustration, and self-doubt.
We go all in... then burn out.
Momentum, on the other hand, is steady. It's practical. It’s built through action - not through feeling inspired, but through simply starting. And then starting again. And again.
You don’t have to feel ready. You just have to be willing.
Small, consistent steps create movement. That movement builds confidence. Confidence fuels clarity. And clarity gives you the courage to keep going.
I harp on about 'baby steps' all the time in all of my content, why? Because baby steps taken day after day after day build momentum!
Consistency, persistence, repetition, reps and sets, whatever you want to call it, these are the actions that will make a difference in your life. It all comes down to showing up, again and again, even when it’s not glamorous. Even when it’s quiet, because consistency compounds.
If you feel stuck, or caught in a loop of overthinking, start small. Start tiny, even! Set a boundary. Make a phone call. Rest. Say no. Say yes. Make one decision.
These actions might not feel dramatic, but they’re powerful. They create momentum. And momentum is what sustains real growth.
Momentum also creates space for the real you to emerge - not the one chasing constant inspiration, but the one showing up with grace, clarity, and intention.
Whether we build it through coaching, Reiki, sound healing, or reflection - the goal is always the same: progress over perfection.
If you’re waiting to feel 'ready,' consider this your reminder - you don’t have to feel ready, and you don’t have to do it all at once.
You just have to begin.
Start where you are. Use what you have. Take one small step. Make one gentle shift. The time will pass anyway - and if you start today, you’ll already be one step closer tomorrow.
As the famous Chinese proverb says;
'The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now.'
Need some support taking that first (or next) step?
