Hello my friend,
How are you?
Today I'm talking to the Reiki practitioners among us about a topic that comes up a lot among most of Reiki practitioners I know: Self-Reiki.
Let me reassure you that, if you're a Reiki practitioner who struggles with self-Reiki, you're not alone!
It is so common to find it easier to give Reiki to others than to yourself.
Today I'd like to share some gentle, inspiring ways to help you rekindle your self-Reiki practice:
Instead of seeing self-Reiki as something you "should" do, reframe it as a gift to yourself. Just as you wouldn’t hesitate to help a friend, remind yourself:
✨ I am worthy of my own healing energy.
✨ Caring for myself helps me care for others.
✨ The more I nourish myself, the more I have to give.
If a full session feels like too much, start small!
💜 Place your hands on your heart for one minute in the morning.
💆 Hold your hands on your head or shoulders before bed.
🙏 Send Reiki to your food, water, or bath to infuse your day with healing.
Even a few minutes counts! Reiki flows where it’s needed—you don’t have to do it “perfectly.”
Turn self-Reiki into a sacred, enjoyable ritual by pairing it with things you love:
🕯️ Light a candle, burn palo santo, or diffuse essential oils.
🎶 Play soft music or nature sounds.
☕ Sip a warm herbal tea while placing your hands on your belly.
When you make it feel nourishing and special, it becomes something you want to do rather than something you have to do.
Self-Reiki doesn’t have to be done sitting still!
Try:
🌿 Placing your hands on your heart while walking in nature.
🛁 Sending Reiki to yourself in the shower or bath.
🛌 Resting your hands on your stomach while lying in bed.
Reiki can flow anywhere, anytime—even during daily activities.
If you struggle with focus, use a Reiki timer app (I use 'Insight Timer') or listen to a guided Reiki meditation.
Even 5–10 minutes of structured time can make a big difference.
If you're resisting self-Reiki, sit quietly and ask:
💭 What would make me feel good right now?
💭 Where does my body want Reiki today?
💭 How can I receive, instead of just give?
Then, let Reiki flow with ease, not effort.
You can’t pour from an empty cup!
Self-Reiki isn’t selfish—it’s essential for keeping your energy balanced and strong. The more you receive, the more you can share.
In fact, when Mikao Usui was asked if we can heal ourselves just as we heal others, he responded: "If you can't heal yourself how can you heal others?"
Self-Reiki is not an afterthought - it’s the foundation of your practice.
By tending to your own energy, you strengthen your ability to hold space for others.
With love and light,
Amy 💜🤟
